Licencing Costs (Power Apps, Automate, BI)

Hello!

In my organization every user has M365 E3 licenses.

I now need to create two canvass apps. Both need premium connectors (azure sql) - and maybe also premise datasources.

Both apps will at some point make use of Flows. I am also thinking of using PBI within the apps.

Can you please give some information on which plans I am missing and what the costs/user would be!

  • What additional licences do I need as the creator of the apps/flows?
  • What additional licences would the users need to use these apps? I would assume that users would need a PBI Pro license if I include PBI Reports in the apps, right?

Thank you!

    Hello

    1. This mean every user need to have own license. For example if you create an app using premium conector, every user of this app need 1 premium license.

    2. If you create a flow with premium concentor you need premium license.

Generally M365 E3 license is weak because you can only create canvas apps w/o any premium conectors and flows w/o any premium conectors. Actually the price for dataverse and premium stuff is huge.

Here is some nice FAQ about it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/powerapps-flow-licensing-faq

Also you must consider the API calls limit.

    thank you @alrez !

just two quick follow up questions:

    1. What do you mean by "Also please keep in mind that Power Apps licenses will not be shared"?

    2. You did not mention Flow/Power Automate. Is this covered by the PowerApps licenses or is this already inclueded in M365 E3?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Based on your requirement for 2 canvas apps plus Premium connectors such as Azure SQL, and on-premises data sources you will have to purchase one of the two licenses below. You have two options, Power Apps per App plan for $10/month which will be enough for the 2 canvas apps since the limit is 2 apps per license. Or if you would like to have a more unlimited option for future apps you can opt for the Power Apps per User plan for $40/month.

Depending on how many users will be engaging in the creation or modification of the apps you will need a license for each user. Also please keep in mind that Power Apps licenses will not be shared across the entire tenant since they are a per user license.
