Office docx Files can not be used in Copilot Studio Agent Topics

Hello Community,

we're trying to create an agent for contract management with several usecases.

Therefor we created an own topic in an Agent. the colleagues should be able to upload a PDF or docx file.

Afterwards an prompt for this use case should summarize and work with the PDF or docx file.

When the colleages uploading a PDF - the workflow works like a charm.

When uploading a DOCX file we receive an error:

Do you have any idea why this is not working?

When I upload the document and the necessary prompt to Copilot Chat ( no Copilot license) it works well..

So what is the reason Agent topics can not work with docx files and how it can get worked?

I'm not sure if this is related, but as of this morning I have also been unable to upload .docx files to my agent to be used for knowledge sources either. I have previously uploaded ones that are still indexing in responses correctly, but when I tried to update one of them with the new version I get a generic unable to upload file error. It worked fine when I converted the document to a pdf. Perhaps something funky is going on in the background on MS end?

Yes we tried as well to convert the docx file to a pdf during the workflow..

The pdf will be created in the OneDrive but can not be further used in the workflow... When we try to get the content the file is empty and can not be used in the Agent

Has there been any update on this issue? We are surprised Microsoft would not support their own file type and this gets in the way of teams working effectively with agents. It's hard to believe there is no release date planned for supporting this.

is the uploaded document is protected document ? or information protection / dlp applied ?

Can you check if the document is complex format with table data or images ? can u test with simple docx with plain text only first
