I am not a global administrator in my company's tenant. I have built an app and shared it with a security group.
People are using the app.
Now, a new user has been added to the security group but he still can't see the app.
Since I cannot access Active Directory or the a 365 Admin pages, I need to check if the user has access to the app.
In SharePoint, there is a way to check who has access to an artefact by typing their name into a dialog. The permissions for that user will show even if access is granted via an AD group.
Is there something similar for PowerApps? Does anyone have an idea why the new user cannot see the PowerApp on his phone even though he has been added to the security group that grants access? My last hope is that the change just hasn't synced from on-prem to Azure AD.
@teylyn1 My experience with first use of Apps on my phone is that I have to find them in "All Apps" first, then use it once and it will then appear in "My Apps". I will also Favorite any apps I use to help find them more quickly.
Hello @v-monli-msft
the user was added to the AD group a few days ago. Sync delay between on-premises and cloud AD is therefore not an issue.
The user cannot see the app in "My Apps" on his phone and there is no result when they search for the first word of the app, which is quite distinct.
When I invited the user to the app by manually sharing it with him, he could see the app immediately.
What can be done to avoid a repeat of that situation with every new employee in the company?
Hi @teylyn1 ,
This shouldn't happen. According to the documentation, if you share an app with a security group, existing members of that group and anyone who joins it will have the permission that you specify for that group.
You could try to individually share the app with this specific user to test.
