Attachments uploaded via PowerApp to CDS Entity

Hello All,

I have seen several posts on this subject but can not seem to solve my problem.  If anyone can see where I may have taken a wrong step along this path, could you let me know?

  1. I have created a CDS Entity, called "Purchase" and Enabled Attachments for it
  2. I have created a PowerApp which has a Screen that contains a Form, the datasource for that form is my Entity I created in step one.
  3. When I enter data into my form, upload a file, and submit the form, I can see that rows have been added to the Purchase Entity, And also my upload information has been added to the Notes Entity
  4. NoteEntity.jpeg
  5. In the notes entity, I can only see the file Name and title, when I select the "All Fields" filter, this clears out the data and no rows are shown, the page is just blank
  6. All Notes Drop Down :  AllNotes.jpeg
  7. Empty Notes Screen, no data :Empty.jpeg
  8. For some reason, if I exit the Power Apps console all together and go back in, I can see my data in my "Purchase Entity" but the Notes screen shows no data anymore.
  9. Lastly,  I am confused about where the actual uploaded file is stored.  I thought it would go into the "Attachments" Entity, but that is empty.  I can see info about the file in the Notes entity (before it clears out) , like the File Name, but I don't know where the actual file data is.

Thank you so much if anyone can help out.

Re: Attachments uploaded via PowerApp to CDS Entity

    Hi All,

Posting some new info in case anyone else hits this same  problem.

It does look like the document also does get stored into the Notes entity in binary form.  It must have been a lag time for Azure to catch up. I just logged back in and can see a lot more information in that Entity.

I had uploaded several doc's while testing and I am guessing that the web.powerapps portal just couldn't access all the data for a bit.  I can now see a Mime type column, a Document column, etc.

    Hope this helps someone!

    Hi @Anonymous ,

I've made a similar test but not met the problem like your description.

    Please check these points:

    1)Has your file uploaded successfully?

2)Does the file still exist in the "purchase" entity? You could check it in PowerApps.

    3)Have you enable attachments?5221_LI.jpg

What's more, the attachements when you enable the Notes and Attachements, are saved to the Note entity, that is related automatically with that entity. And the file's content is saved in the DocumentBody field in the format of binary.

    Here's doc for your reference:

    Hello!
Thank you so much for your reply and help.

I did eventually see the  document I uploaded  get stored into the Notes entity.  It must have been a lag time for Azure to catch up. I logged back in a few hours after making this post and and could see a lot more information in the Notes Entity.

I had uploaded several doc's while testing and I am guessing that the web.powerapps portal just couldn't access all the data for a bit.  I can now see a Mime type column, a Document column, etc.

Hoping this post helps someone in the future, looks like all was working as I would have expected it, but some sort of lag was making it take a while for the data to actually show up when I was looking at the entities in the webapps environment.
