  • I am trying to assign a default value to "UserID" field of my form .
  • "UserID" is a lookup column in my sharepoint list which points to "Employee" List.
  • I can get the required record using the formula

 Lookup(Employee,ID= currentUser.ID)

  • I get error when I try to assign the above formula to the default property of "UserID" data card of my form.

How can I correctly fill a default value to lookup column field of PowerApp forms

    Assuming

    • Your Lookup function is correctly giving you the desired record
    • SP List column you want to retrieve is called UserID

    Use in the Default Value

    Lookup(Employee,ID= currentUser.ID).UserID

    No this will not work. @happyume

    The Default Property of the data card of myForm  accepts a record .

    from your formula, Lookup(Employee,ID= currentUser.ID).UserID  -> number not record.

    Solution

    In the Datacard of the UserID. I unlocked it from advanced panel then DefaultSelectedItems Property, I set as below

    {

    Id: currentUser.ID

    Value:Id: currentUser.ID

    }

    It requires both Id as well as Value in the record
