We have built a canvas app that uses the Outlook SendEmailV2 , and dozens of users are using it without any issues.
However, one user does have a rather strange issue. Whenever the app tries to send an email on his behalf, he gets the below error. It's strange, as I would think Outlook shouldn't use any "devices".
Anyone any idea on what could cause this issue?
Error:
Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2 failed: "Failed to get onbehalfof access token: connectionId=office365, message=A device attached to the system is not functioning.\r\n"
I would focus on the first half of the message rather than the device portion. It looks like you are trying to Send the message out as a particular user. The user trying to use the app doesn't have permission to send an email as that person or for some reason can't acquire the authentication token required in the connection. Check on the account being used to send the email and make sure this user has Send on Behalf of permission to that mailbox.
