Hi @HemantG  @AnqiChen ,

Can PCF component be imported in the latest OnPrem version environment? If not is there will it be supported in future or there are any plan

This question might be silly but just wanted clear confirmation from somewhere.

Thanks

    All that is required for pcf is v9 unified. It doesn't matter whether online or on prem.

    https://www.preact.co.uk/blog/microsoft-announces-dynamics-365-v9-on-premise-release

    These include:

    • Unified Interface for Sales and Service apps
    • Refreshed classic web user interface
    • Creating mobile task flows
    • Field Service app
    • Powerapps model driven app designer
    • Relationship assistant embedded intelligence

    We followed the instruction given in the below article to create a solution.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/developer/component-framework/import-custom-controls

    After the solution creation, we imported the same in our on-premise environment and got the below error.

    @rexkenley The solution structure amongst other items needed to support PCF components does not exist in the on-premise version.

    Being blunt the latest onpremise version is a variation of the initial 2017 version 9 release - a lot has changed online since then.

    @ben-thompson

    Does this include pcf written with react? This would definitely cause an uproar for those who are still on prem.

    Can you please try importing this project.

    If you can't import that then I was wrong and disappointed with this. PCF is a very powerful feature that should be available to all d365 users.

    I have to remember things here and be careful about other items.

    While there is an on-premise version 9 of Dynamics and it does have a (limited) unified interface front end to it that front end dates from well before PCF in it's current form existed - remember that for PCF to work you really do need the 2019 wave 2 release (version 9.1.0000.13228 is what I'm  currently running)

    The latest on-premise version (Sheldon's is 9.0.2.3034) is based on the April 2018 code base and while I know PCF was being worked on at that time (Hi Paul Mare) what was being discussed then doesn't look much like the current end result.

    @ben-thompson

    I wrote and tested all of my pcf controls on Version 1710 (9.1.0.12935) online. *But that could change in the future.

    I do hope MS reconsiders this and release a CU that would allow pcf on premise support.

    Still the April 2018 code base - it's 9.0.

    Yes, PCF could be imported in latest OnPrem, as long as the solution file, its solution.xml says it's compatible with 'OnPrem', not 'CRMLive'

    There are some cases that's not be able to be imported, but they are not related with PCF

    1) If you export from an Online org, then import it to OnPrem

    2) If you export from an OnPrem org, then import it to Online

    3) If you export from latest version, then import it on an old version

    For above cases, under some scenarios, the import will fail, but they are not related with PCF. The import failure are not blocked by PCF
