I am working on Ms Teams Table. Already having some records in the table

Was not knowing that Ms Team table does have ID field same as of Share Point.

Later saw some advises by google, to create an Auto number field by adding column, so that can use as an ID field.

I added a column and selected Auto Number. Below is the images of the column property.

BUT the data did not got populated.

Could not understand, It will start from the next record onward or what?.

What will happen to my earlier records, it will not allow to Add manually?.

Please advise how to solve the requirement.

    Hi @MIA27 ,

Auto Number will populate on new records but will not populate on existing records.  I would suggest exporting the data to Excel for the current rows, populate the values and import them back in.  YOu will want to set these values to a number below where your AutoNumber begins of course so you do not get overlapping values.

Thank you for your advise, noted.

    But Confused a bit.

I am new in the dataverse team table. not much experienced.

Could not understand how to export only that particular rows and import back.

You mean i need to delete the table after export. Then Import in a new table  and set that column to auto number later and continue.

    pls guide

    Hi @MIA27 ,

No you do not need to get rid of the data.  if you go to your table, basically where you added the column for the autonumber, you should see an option like the following to edit the data in Excel.  You can then edit the data, update the values of your autonumber column.  Example is if your autonumber starts at 1000 you could set the values in Excel to any values < 1000 for all the existing records.  If you don't want to edit in Excel and you have a small number of records in the table you can just go to "Edit" and update the values manually...
