Image Analysis Using Tool When Image Uploaded to Agent Chat

I have been trying to trigger a tool I created in Copilot Studio that sends in a prompt with an image as the input. The image would come from the user uploaded to the chat which then would trigger this prompt and take in the uploaded image as the input. When I upload the image, the agent chat just resets and nothing occurs. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The image will probably not come through, but we would need more than 1 image.

    Please share the agent
    -The topic / nodes
-The trigger (if you have any)
    -configuration
    -Activity tab details
-Flow inputs (as file content doesn't work directly as its different in CoPilot now)

And any errors or anything else you can share.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

When attempting to trigger a tool in Copilot Studio using an image uploaded by the user in the agent chat, the issue you're describing — where the chat resets and nothing happens — is often related to how the image input is configured and handled within the tool or orchestration flow.

Here are a few key points to check:

    1. **Input variable configuration**: Ensure that your tool or prompt is explicitly expecting an input of type `file` or `image`. If the input variable is not correctly defined or mapped, the agent may fail to process the upload and reset the session.

    2. **Trigger conditions**: Verify that the tool is set to trigger based on the presence of an image input. If the orchestration logic doesn’t include a condition to detect and handle the file upload, the agent may not know how to proceed.

    3. **File size and format**: Large image files or unsupported formats can cause the agent to fail silently. Try testing with smaller, standard image formats like `.jpg` or `.png`.

    4. **Error handling**: Add logging or error-handling steps in your orchestration flow to capture any failures when the image is uploaded. This can help identify whether the issue is with the file input, the tool execution, or the downstream logic.

    5. **Documentation reference**:

       - Triggering tools with file inputs

    Thanks and best regards,
    Daniele
