Image control - not displaying anything

Hi,

Clearly there is a lot of confusion with this control as there are numerous posts and YouTube videos but I still cannot actually get an answer.

Anyway, I have an image type field list, when I set an image control to ThisItem.PhotoFieldName it is always blank.

This is supposed to just work, but I cannot for the life of me get it to work no matter what I try.

The images are there, I can see them in the List. Even if I use the SharePoint list form builder, it has the image fields, but again blank.

Does anyone have a definitive way of how to get an image control to actually work and display the image from an image type sharepoint list column?

Cheers,

Scott

    Hi @Anonymous

If you reference the "full" property, does the image appear?

    ThisItem.PhotoFieldName.Full

Hi, thanks for the follow up 🙂

Yes, I tried that already and it does nothing. I tried the others too - all are blank.

I can use Patch to add a new image but there seems to be no way to get it back into the form again.

I have tried in a gallary, form and just a standalone control. All end up blank.

Ok I came back to this after a bit of a rest and I noticed the type of return was TEXT, despite this being an image field in the SharePoint list.

The text returned is a URL to an image, starting "appres:" rather than the image its self.

    Any ideas?

    Hi @Anonymous

If you add the image to your SharePoint list through an edit form (rather than call Patch to create the record),  are you able to view the image/record that you created in an edit form?

    Hi,

Yes I tried that, and in the List grid edit view, neither work.

I am going to delete all rows and the images, and add some new ones see if that reset it somehow as its all only test data..

I suspect this may be a service issue or bug at this point.

    Cheers,

    Scott

    Hi,

So if anyone else is having this issue, my solution (not a great one though) was to delete the list and recreate it. It works great now.

I have no idea what the issue was here, hopefully it gets picked up by Microsoft at some point as clearly a few people have similar issues.

Even removing and putting back the data source didnt fix it, had to make a whole new list.

    Hi-

I've been through a support process with MS on this and it is a known issue they're working on. (Took 2 weeks for them to confirm that...)

The 'fix' in my case was that attachments were disabled on the SharePoint list.  When I re-enabled them again the images worked fine.  The process of creating a list based on a list must enable attachments by default.

Hope this helps as it's been a nightmare for many weeks for us!

My images are being uploaded from OneDrive. They have all been compressed to minimize file size.  I have over 15 apps that we are currently working on and every one has some kind of odd behavior around image files. Both uploaded from OneDrive or uploaded from SP library.

The fix for me was removing spaces from my image names.
