Hi,
I am trying to create a Power BI report that compares two years worth of data side by side on the same page. The page has two sets of graphs and charts split down the middle of a single page. There are two slicers at the top of each half that affect only the side they are on and a few more slicers that allow filtering of the data on both sides. The year slicers are limited in scope by editing the interactions under the format tab.
This works well but when viewing the current year's data compared to previous years there is a slight issue. For example, today is 28th February 2024 and when I select the year on one side of the report the data shown is up to this date. However, the data shown on the other side of the page, when set to 2023, shows data from 1st January to 31st December. This is the same for previous years.
Ideally what I would like to do is have a tick box on the page that performed a function limiting the previous year's data to the same date as 'today' but for the year in the slicer selection. So, if today's date is 28th February 2024 I would like the tickbox to limit the other selected year's, let's take 2023 for example, to 1st January 2023 to 28th February 2023.
Ways I have thought of doing this are by taking today's date minus 365 somehow or creating a bookmark that limited the data to this date, this month of the year in the selection. However, I cannot seem to find a way to make this work correctly when choosing different years.
For the time being I have included the month in the slicer for each side so the users can select the months required for the comparison but this isn't really user friendly!
Can anyone provide an alternative suggestion on how I could achieve this?
Thanks,
Andy
