Custom Security Role Permissions on the default "Task" table

(0) ShareShare

Hello.
I created security roles for different types of Users

I want to modify permissions for the default "task" table but I don't see it on any of the tabs. I see "Activity" but not Tasks.

I want to prevent users on the lowest security role from seeing other user's task but I cant seem to find where to set these permissions

Any ideas or workarounds? Any help is appreciated

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Tolu_Victor,

By design, you can only grant access to all activity table types or none, you can't selectively set permissions for out of box activity tables such as Task, or Email, Phone Call, or any custom activity tables.

    Thanks @ChrisPiasecki .
But those permissions dont seem to cascade down to all activity table.

I selected none for Read permission for a role and I was still seeing the tasks.

    Hi @Tolu_Victor,

Does the user have any other roles or part of a team that owns the record? You can also use the Check Access command button on a particular record to see details on how access was derived for it. If you're an admin you can check other user's access.

    Hi @ChrisPiasecki
Thanks. Ive been able to find what was giving the access by using Check Access

It was this "Record was shared with me because I have access to related record".
Can I turn this functionality off on the Task table. Because I want users to only their records

    Hi @Tolu_Victor,

Ah yes, another thing to be mindful of is cascading relationship behavior. You may want to change the Share and Reparent actions to Cascade None for each 1:N relationship for activity tables. Unlike for security roles, you'll have to configure relationship between your parent table and individual activity table type such as Task, Email, etc., which can be a bit tedious.
