I have a scenario where I need to store address information for records in a custom entity (address1, address2, city etc). This information needs to come from a separate address entity that contains a curated list of addresses to choose from. I can't use a lookup to point to the address entity record though, the information needs to be copied from the addresses table and entered into the relevant fields on the custom entity.
What I would like to do is have a button on the form that opens a lookup form where I can search for the relevant address, select it, and have the fields on the form updated appropriately. Ideally the lookup form would be similar to the Advanced Lookup form available for standard lookup fields.
Is there any way to achieve this sort of functionality? I was thinking along the lines of having a hidden lookup field on the form tied to the address entity, then placing a custom "select address" button on the form that would cause the associated advanced lookup to show. I could then watch this field for changes and copy the information from the selected address record. I'm not sure if this is practical or possible though.
Thanks
Alan
