Where does the Template data go?

There are loads of templates on the Create page for Make.PowerApps.com I chose one to try out, and in no time I was running a great little app! So far so good.

I entered and edited a few records and that was fine too. Then I stopped the app, saved it, then restarted it and POOF! None of my previous entries were there. I then noticed that there is no database symbol on the left side navigation pane and no indication of any connection to any data source. I did not lose anything important but if I wanted to save that data:

where would it be stored (or perhaps it is not stored anywhere)

--OR--

how do I connect a template app to a data source of my own to save those entries?

It depends on the template. But many of the templates are built using local collections. They are designed to be learning examples, not production apps. You have to look through the template and replace instances of collection data with some other data source, like Excel or SharePoint. Let us know what template you used and we can provide more info.

Yes, the help Desk sample uses local collections. Here's a video walkthrough that will explain how to convert it to use SharePoint.
