Copilot not using the knowledge I have given it

I am having an issue with a copilot I am trying to create. It is meant to serve as a simple chatbot for a company website that can answer basic questions. I have added links to the various pages on the website, and they all read "Ready". However, when I ask the Copilot questions pertaining directly to information found through the links I have given it, it will be unable to answer, responding with "No information was found that could help answer this". If I enable "Allow the AI to use its own general knowledge", it either makes the answers up or tells me that it doesn't know the answer. Below is a picture example. The question I ask should be easily answered from the information on www.greentree.group/opportunities, as it contains basic information on "ESG Internship".

It's worth noting that I also have "Allow AI to use its own general knowledge" enabled:

Additionally, when editing my chatbot, I get the error "AI features aren't enabled, so any instructions won't apply" under Instructions. I assume this is because I am not yet a paying user, but I may be wrong. I was wondering if this might also possibly be the cause of my issues.

Any help and guidance is greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hi AM-21071718-0,

If the chatbot still struggles, consider adjusting training data or fine-tuning responses.

The additional error message you’re encountering (“AI features aren’t enabled, so any instructions won’t apply”) typically appears when certain advanced features are restricted due to subscription (paid) limitations.

As you mentioned, this could be related to your account type (free vs. paid). To verify, please check your account settings or contact the platform’s support team to confirm whether AI features are available for your account.

While this error message might not directly cause the chatbot’s inability to answer questions accurately, it’s essential to ensure that all features are correctly enabled.

If AI features are indeed restricted, it might affect the chatbot’s ability to use its own general knowledge or access external information. Consider confirming your account type and exploring any available settings related to AI features. If possible, consider upgrading to a paid plan to unlock advanced capabilities. Meanwhile, continue testing your chatbot with the existing configuration, focusing on the link-based information extraction.

Good luck with ESP internships at GreenTree Group chatbot!

If this post helps you, consider marking it as resolved to help others too.

    Happy to help.

I am having a very similar experience.  I have my website to try to surface case studies but it gives me the "No information was found that could help answer this." when it should be a very simple search and retrieval.  I have been getting into the Bing Webmaster tools as I have heard that can cause issues if the site is not indexable.  But so far nothing has worked.

The Response from Chatbot varies based on how the Website is built.

If your website is built with lot of Javascript, copilot will not be able to provide proper response.

Ensure that the link you provided is accessible to the chatbot. If it's a private page or requires authentication, the chatbot won't be able to retrieve the information. Make sure that the content on the linked pages is indexed correctly by the chatbot's system. If the content isn't indexed, it won't be able to reference it.

    Thanks.
