Hi all,
In a canvas app, is it possible to retrieve the solution version number it belongs to?
I don't find much documentation about this. Anyone knows how to? Or is it not possible?
Thanks very much,
Ski
Hi,
It's not currently possible to directly get this from Power Apps, you could look at manually setting a value during onStart of the App, which you would then update every time you saved, that way when you exported the solution for another environment you could see what version of the App was currently running (ie is it the most recent?)
Cheers,
Sancho
Hi @iAm_ManCat
Thanks for your reply. That's how I currently do it, but it's just a bit excessive to get the version in the app itself I think. You can forget to change it, especially when you're not always the one doing the deployment. If you forget, you'd have to restart the deployment process.
It'd be very useful if the deployment took care of the versioning of solution and all it's containing components.
I have added an idea: Get solution version number in app (or flow) - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)
Thanks to @Expiscornovus, it possible to do it with a flow. If you call the flow from within you app, you can retrieve the version number.
Please see next article on his blog to approach this: https://www.expiscornovus.com/2022/01/09/solution-name-and-version-of-flow/
