Split function behaves differently on Windows and Mac

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well! I am currently working on two devices (one a Mac and one a Windows) and found a difference in behaviour for the split function.

As you can see on the pictures: on Windows the characters with accents are split correctly (image 3.png). However on Mac, the letters with an accent seem to be split into two different characters: one being the regular letter, the other being the accent (image 2.png).

How is this possible? Does someone know how to get consistency in this? For context: I am creating a solution that replaces diacritic letters with their 'normal' counterparts. So á becomes a for instance. I know that I can solve this with a lot of replace function, but due to the split behaviour on mac, this didn't solve it for me.

Thanks in advance!
