Network error when using Patch function: The specified column is read-only and can't be modified

Hi all

Yep, this is error is back (well for me at least). It has been like this for about 10 days. I read several threads about authoring versions, so I waited for a new version to be released (3.24043.21), which I tried. But still the same issue.

In one environment (PROD), it works when playing the app, but not when editing. In another environment (DEV), doesn't work in either. It is frustrating as there are updates I want to push updates from DEV to PROD, but am reluctant too in case that also stops working in the player.

Essentially it is quite a complex formula in a button which patches a gallery into SharePoint. It started giving me this error when I made some changes, but I rolled them back, but that hasn't resolved the issue.

What I have tried so far:

  • Changed authoring versions
  • Compared code between DEV and PROD - same code, but it works in the PROD player
  • Deleted the button and re-created

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks in advance

Did you try recreating the connection?

You could also try Removing the Data source and adding it again to the app. (Don't remove it from the code since you will add it back)

Did you try deleting all the connections relevant to Sharepoint?

I'm pretty sure, that you already looked it up, but just to be sure: Did you Check if you have acces to all the columns in the data source?

Thanks again. I do have access to all the lists and columns.

I haven't tried deleting all the connections. Will give that a go tomorrow and let you know.

    Thanks

"The Network error when using Patch function: The specified column is read-only and can't be modified"  error occurs recently in newly created power apps.

We are using the patch function to update multiple records in SharePoint List using a collection. This is working fine in our development apps even now. When we take a copy of this to create additional apps, the patch function issue occurred.

We have tried the below items

    • Removed and added data connections
    • Changed authoring versions
    • Compared the code between both the apps

Post this, we tried creating a new app with the similar design and issue occurs even in the new app.

    Sample code:

// update collection to SPO list
            Patch(
                InvoiceLineItemsList,
                colLineItems
            );
where   InvoiceLineItemsList is the SP List and colLineItems is a collection with similar structure to list.

Note: We have not updated any read-only fields in the collection.

Any other possible solutions, please let me know

Unfortunately removing all the connections didn't work either. And reading @Susan_Mado's reply, others area also experiencing this.

    Thanks

We had raised a support ticket with Microsoft. Upon Microsoft product team's analysis some feature has been disabled. Now the patch function is working fine.

@apcl73 : Please check from your end also.

    hey @apcl73

as far as i understood correctly it worked  ut stopped working.

So it can not be the case that you try to patch a colum that is read only such as Created or Created by (if you are using Sharepoint as a datasource)?

Let me know if my answer helped solving your issue.

If it did please accept as solution and give it a thumbs up so we can help others in the community.

    Greetings
