Just this October there was an update to Power Apps in which the activity dropdown for entities shows only "relevant activities". After this update, none of our apps show any activities in the New Activity drop down, preventing manual creation of Activities within the apps. The article which mentions this change says "Activities that are not included in the app metadata now are hidden from the New Activity command". Is there any way to edit this metadata, or some other method, which would allow us to adjust the activities available in the New Activity dropdown?
I assume you're talking about activities within the Timeline control? Open your form from the Make.powerapps portal and select the timeline control. On the right side of the screen, scroll down to Controls and open the configuration for the timeline control. It will let you pick which activity types do and do not appear.
In this case no, it's not within Timeline control. This is a separate subgrid for the Activities table, which is not a part of Timeline. I'll put the link to what I believe is related to the problem. It changed what would show up when creating an Activity to be only "relevant" items, which for us removed everything from the drop down.Link to the update:New activity dropdown to show only relevant activities - Power Platform Release Plan | Microsoft Learn
Ok then, if that's the issue, then all you need to do is add those activity tables to your app. Easy fix.
Also, if those activities weren't in your app before then users were probably getting "open this record in the context of an app" notifications, couldn't use quick view/quick add, and other small annoyances that this change forces you to deal with... So probably a net positive for your users, even if it is annoying as heck that they shifted the ground under your feet.
