Hey all, how does ownership in a virtual table work when the data is from an SQL server DB?
I want the users to only have access to their own created records without seeing others - anyone ever set this up?
Many thanks in advance
It doesn't, it is treated as an Organization defined table not a User or Team one. See
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/developer/data-platform/virtual-entities/get-started-ve#limitations-of-virtual-tables
Just to add to @Fubar's comment: access to data in virtual tables is not set up on the Dataverse side, it is configured in the data source - in your case, SQL. Depending on the SQL DB engine you are using, you might be able to set up row level security in SQL.

But in that case wouldn't it be dependent on the SQL connection you used to connect to the data source?
I believe it can't be achieved as you will always have access depending on the connection in your data source.
@Mira_Ghaly, afaik this depends on the Data Provider you are using.
The Dual Write feature used by FO for example enables users access to data in FO through virtual tables. What data they can see depends on their security role in FO.
But I agree, if you use a shared SQL connection there's no way to enforce row-level security on either the SQL nor the Dataverse side.
