Filtering/Searching a gallery by multiple tables

Hello community members,

I have a situation here:

Data source: SQL Server

I have multiple relational tables and I have created a gallery

Test Model.JPG

The gallery is created on GL Data table. I have added lables in the gallery showing data from Branch maping and GL Maping table (using Lookup functions).

Objective: Search/Filter the gallery by Branch Name, Cluster, Cost Type, Account Number

Searching by Account Number is easy as it in the same table. How can I search/filter the gallery for the other values?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Cheers!

Vivek

My suggestion would be to create a SQL View which brings together all the information you need from multiple tables.  Then instead of worrying about how to join the tables in PowerApps, it will already be done and you can simply focus on filtering the View.

    Hello @mdevaney,

    Thank you for your response!

    I will try your suggestion.

Meanwhile, for my understanding, what if my source was not SQL and I do not have option to create views. Is there any other alternative in Power Apps?

    Cheers!

Well, you would have to join the tables in PowerApps using the ADDCOLUMNS and LOOKUP functions.

There are significant downsides to doing the table join in PowerApps instead using the datasource

    1. Performance
    2. PowerApps can't join more than 2,000 rows in a table.

How would you be able to edit the gallery item then and post it back to the sql table if you are combining a view to display?

I have Table A as my main and Table B with a key that links the tables.  I have a gallery with Table 1 (2 fields), used a lookup to display the value from Table 2.  I have an Input Search and it works easy for the Table 1 values, but I want to search on the Table 2 value as well.  Is this possible?
