Powerapps Dropdown not working

(0) ShareShare

I tested my app yesterday, and i was sure it was working, but today my power app dropdowns are  not feeding into my sharepoint list.

I have two dropdowns named station and department. My column titles are station and title (because i never know what to do with the title column).

My labels are ddStation and ddDept.

My items property of each are:

["Choose Station:","DAY","FLL","JAX","MIA","MLB","PBI","PNS","RSW","SRQ","TLH"]

and

["Choose Dept:","120","125","148","807"]

Can someone tell me what i've got wrong, please.

Thank you

    @Kaschlegel

    If your dropdowns are in an EditForm, then what are the update properties of the datacards that they are in?

    They need to reflect the proper value to be updated to the column they are there for.

    Should my dropdowns be outside of the edit form, or how do I fix the update properties of them? Thank you.

    @Kaschlegel

    No, your dropdowns can be either in or out of the form.  In would probably be better for your needs.

    But, the Update property of the datacard needs to reflect on that control for its value.  So what do you have now?

    The data card is locked unless I delete the items property.

    Kaschlegel_1-1621197087338.pngThis shows the parent control as my dept dropdown, but i haven't been able to remove that.

    @Kaschlegel

    So, what are the underlying column types for Station and Department?

    How did you add the dropdowns to the edit form?

    You don't need any of the Depends on fields that you have listed as your data for both controls is single column based tables - i.e. there is no relationship and thus no dependency.

    I my dropdown fields are both for sharepoint list columns that are single line of text, and i made my dropdown choices directly in the Powerapps item property for each dropdown. I cant delete the relationship. the card is locked and i can't unlock it unless i delete my items property. What do i need to enter in the update property of the data card to update the sharepoint list, please?

    @Kaschlegel

    Remove the two datacards from your EditForm.

    Then Add then back in and when you add them, change the Control Type (in the field chooser) to Edit Allowed Values.

    Then, unlock the two datacards and set the AllowedValues property of each data card to:

    For the Station DataCard:

        ["Choose Station:","DAY","FLL","JAX","MIA","MLB","PBI","PNS","RSW","SRQ","TLH"]

    For the Department DataCard:

        ["Choose Dept:","120","125","148","807"]

    That will be all you need to do.  PowerApps will have already set up all the back end Update properties and such when you changed the Control Type to "Edit Allowed Values".

    Hi Randy 🙂 I've been searching for help with this for 2 days, and I saw this post, so I'm hoping you can give me some suggestions. PowerApps dropdowns. Brand new app, only has 2 screens so far. I'm populating collections to be used to pre-populate dropdowns from choice columns in a SharePoint list. Been doing this for months in other apps... works great. I'm populating the collections in the App OnStart. On screen one, I'm using those collections to populate dropdowns to filter a gallery... everything works great. On screen two, I have an "add/edit" setup using Patch() with several dropdowns, date pickers, and text input fields. The dropdowns are set up exactly the same as screen one gallery filter, however, ALL the dropdowns on screen two will NOT expand after I publish the app. In preview mode, everything works great, but after publishing, dropdowns for screen two only, will not expand.

    I added a third blank screen and just placed a dropdown only, populated the same way as screen one (gallery filter), and again, after I publish, the dropdown will not expand. You can see the shadow behind, so it wants to open, but it just won't open. The code I'm using to populate all the dropdowns ( of course, using different collections ) is...

    Ungroup(
        Table(
            {myDirectorateOptions: Table({Value: Blank()})},
            {myDirectorateOptions: collectDirectorate.Value}
        ),
        myDirectorateOptions
    )
    I've tried everything I can think of and cannot find any help googling. I follow you, and you are brilliant with this stuff, so I'm hoping you can suggest something ! Thank you so much, Cathy
