Issue with Reset Topic Behavior in Copilot Studio Agent on Teams

Hi there,

I'm encountering an issue with my Copilot Studio agent after publishing it to Microsoft Teams. Specifically, the reset topic does not behave as expected.

Here are the details:

  • I created a custom reset topic and configured a trigger phrase: "reset".
  • When a user types "reset", the agent correctly triggers the reset topic.
  • However, instead of resetting the conversation, the agent keeps repeating the same question, asking the user whether they want to reset or not, over and over again.
  • This loop continues even if the user confirms the reset.

What I’ve tried:

  • Verified that the trigger phrase is correctly set.
  • Ensured that the reset topic is published and active.
  • Tested the same logic in the test chat within Copilot Studio, where it works fine. The issue only appears after publishing to Teams.

Expected Behavior:

When the user types "reset" and confirms, the agent should reset the conversation and return to the default greeting or start topic.

Could you please help me identify what might be causing this loop and how to resolve it?

    Hello 

    Instead of creating a custom reset topic which you can take advantage of called 'Reset conversation'

     
    This resets the conversation by clearing variable values and forcing the agent to use its latest published version.

    Thanks for your response earlier — I really appreciate it.

    I’ve tried using the system-generated “Reset conversation” function.
    It didn’t work well with the default topic, but it worked properly when I used a custom topic.

    What I’m hoping for is a reset button in the Teams channel, similar to what we have in Copilot Studio’s development environment — something that feels like starting a new conversation in ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot.

    I’m wondering if this kind of reset experience can be achieved through  topics?
