Hi there!
We are moving our on-premise app into the power plattform and are not sure how to handle the backups on the cloud.
we know powerapps that there is a backup feature for the environments... but they are deleted in 28 days and we have to store our data for 5 years by law... so how can we do it based on the premise that they cannot be downloaded in order to stored them in our local network?
cheers
Hi @faramendi ,
Nothing available by default. You will need to open a case with Microsoft for this and they may be able to assist.
but I do not really understand... users do not keep backups more than 28 days?
are they using a different mechanism? 3rd party software? I cannot believe I am the first person in the world with this requirement
What exactly do you mean by back up?
I presume you mean the data in the app, not the app configuration - that would be handled by your source code repo.
So if you mean data, you mean the underlying database records. i.e. a snapshot of the database tables taken every X days? This can be done by enabling an Azure Synapse connection to your DataVerse environment (pretty easy to set up). This can then lead to you exporting this data from Synapse to SQL when required, if you really need database snapshots.
Hello, @mjburley and @dpoggemann mentioned, nothing here you can do as OOB, but the Azure Synapse and ADF can do that for you. If you are worried about the cost. Check my tutorial here on how to automatically create backups from Dataverse to csv which won't require any extra licensing and won't add an cost.
