User data showing as suggested data in Power App for Windows

Hi all, I'm looking for some info on the Windows Power Apps Application - not browser, it's the one you have to install.

Background is that I have created an app for visitors to sign in and out with, it will be on a Windows device in Kiosk mode. All good so far, the app works really nicely, users can't access anything except for this Power Apps Application on it.

Problem is that when a new user starts typing into the form it is giving them suggestions of previous users personal data, like email address etc, this obviously isn't ok for GDPR given that this device will be used by people outside of our organisation.

Another solution I've tried is using Edge but this isn't straightforward either, when the system is rebooted it automatically logs itself in and goes straight to the power app for signing in, in the browser it is stopping to ask for O365 login details, this will be in multiple locations and I don't want to share the password for the account with anyone.

Either solution is acceptable to me with these issues fixed. Would anyone know how to either:

  1. Stop Power Apps for Windows saving previous user's data and suggesting it to new users? Or,
  2. How to get Edge to remember signin using Kiosk mode in Windows?

thanks in advance!

    Hi @loha ,

You probably need to think about the principle of licencing here (I am not an expert here, so cannot proffer an opinion on this usage), however the general principle is one licence per user and the app is set up to be helpful to that user to see their data. You have used the phrase "previous user" and you would have to agree this is not the case - it is the same user (and used in multiple locations which you also might have a think about regarding licensing).

Thank you Warren, I'll need to speak the our IT team to see about the licensing. I'm not sure how a PowerApps application can ever work as a 'kiosk' if you need a license per user, we definitely wouldn't want our visitors to sign up to have an account on our domain just to record their presence onsite for a day.

We were intending to have an account per location to avoid all location's app getting locked out if one account has a problem. We have an educational license if that makes a difference to licensing.

That makes sense that the app would try to be helpful offering previous info to the 'current user', it would also be great to be able to turn that help off somehow!

    thanks for your help 🙂
