App is "going to sleep"

I have created an app that is running on a tablet device 24/7/365.
It is used to check employees in and out of work...

Every minute it is set to refresh 2 "minor" tabels in Dataverse...
1) table of employees
2) table of check-ins/outs (present and history)

Earlier I had the issue that the tablets went into screen-saver-mode... I think I have solved this by using the app "Screen Alive"... (anyone with another suggestion?)

Now (and also before the screen-saver-issue) I have one issue left....
Normally it takes 1 second or so to refresh the two tablets, but at a given time (no specific rule, it could be hours/days) the refresh of the tables keeps on running, so the screen is never updated...
What could be the reason for this? - and how do I avoid it?

Unfortunately I don't have an explanation as to what may be causing the issue, but I may have a workaround:
Set a timer to re-launch the app on a regular basis. For this you may use the Launch function: Launch and Param functions - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

    Hi @jlke-as,

    Possible causes:

    • API rate limits: Dataverse enforces service-protection API limits; if your app issues too many calls in a short window, the service returns a 429 Too Many Requests and pauses further processing until the retry period elapses Microsoft Learn.

    • Query throttling: Heavy or inefficient queries can be throttled by Dataverse to protect database performance, causing delays or failures in your refresh

Consider use a temp collection, and only update the changes.
Reduce the frequency of the update, unless you have good reason, for example assume you have a timer, it only start for 7 :00 - 10:00, update once per 5 min (only update the changes), another timer for duty off time ,like 16:00- 18:00; after that update per hour
Reboot the tablet regularly, like middle night.
Collect log for analysis, and use that for optimize the app.
