We have a model-driven app that we distribute to clients in a managed solution. Occasionally, there is a dataverse change made, like a new field added, that requires a sql script to populate or modify some data values. We would want each client to run the script in SQL4CDS when they upgrade to the new solution version. What is the best practice for distributing the sql script and getting the client to run it? Is there a better way than to share the sql script along with the solution zip and adding a note to release documentation? Should the sql script be included in the web resources perhaps?
Thanks for your input.
Hello,
You can include SQL query to the solution as a part of the solution using one of webresources available but I don't see the practical need in it. I would say it's better to create some kind of KB on your website and include those queries there with detailed instructions on how to run queries using SQL4CDS.
