Hi all, I have a model driven app with the Microsoft Project Service Core installed.
I would like to assign permissions to a group of users to give read only access to all fields in the main Project entity but allow project task completion only (Project Tasks entity?).
In order to attempt this I have copied an existing security role "Project User", on the Project row, marked all but the read-only columns "None Selected" but retained the existing values in Project Tasks. When I do this, the all fields in the Project entity are read-only, as expected, however, the Project Tasks also show read only.
See attached screenshot for the area in which I am making changes. (though the changes I tried are not shown as I reverted them)
Any thoughts on how to achieve what I am looking for would be very gratefully received.
Thanks,
Hi @MicrosoftAdmin ,
I would duplicate the role that exists so you don't need to revert the changes and then modify that role vs. Using custom roles is best practice vs. modify base roles anyway.
It would be nice to see the role screen to analyze what you have done, overall I would expect it to work. Are you saying it is read only on the specific task or is it not allowing you to add a task to the project? You need to make sure you still have the Append / Append to set so you can "Append" the Task to the Project and the project will allow to be "Append To" with the Task being added to it.
