Passing a collection of records from a MDA to Power Automate

Hello!

I'm currently trying to build a pipeline that allows users to receive a CSV file of the records they select on a model-driven app. Here are some methods I've tried that don't seem viable:

  1. Dataverse connectors - After building an automation with Dataverse connectors/triggers, I realized the automation produces a CSV for each record selected instead of a single CSV for all records selected.
  2. Exporting an Excel file to a CSV file type - Unfortunately, this method doesn't appear to meet our formatting requirements.
  3. Using the "When an HTTP request is received" trigger - I got the trigger to work, but I'm not sure if I can actually send data to the automation. I ran a test, and it seems the JSON object is full of tokens, but I couldn't find a single record (please correct me if I'm mistaken).
  4. Ribbon Workbench - I see a lot of resources suggesting Ribbon Workbench, but I'm not sure how to install it since many of the guides involve having Dynamics 365.

I'm a little lost and might consider going down a rabbit hole to build a canvas version of this app.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi @ihui

To be honest I am confused at what you are doing. I have no idea what Dataverse Connectors or HTTP Triggers has to do with downloading records.

You mention that exporting doesn't meet your format needs, yet you don't actually tell us what your needs are, so no matter what we tell you it would be probably wrong.

    1. Why can't they use the built in Export the records?

    2. Customize the Form and add a Button (not Ribbon Workbench) but part of the platform. Add the expressions needed to format it how you want it.

    3. You could Create a SharePoint list.

Then in a button, have it put a request into the SharePoint list, with all the record id's you want them to have

Create a flow that would trigger when any records are added to the List

Format the File how you want in the Flow

Save the content in SharePoint / OneDrive and Email them a link

#3 seems more like what you need since you want to format it.

If I have helped you, I would really appreciate if you please Mark my answer as Resolved/Answered, and give it a thumbs up, so it can help others

    Cheers
