Make two people owners of the same solution.

Hi all!

A colleague of mine is the owner of a solution in Power Apps.
This solution contains an app, a Power Automate flow, connections, and environment variables. My colleague has made me a co-owner of the app, so I can only view/edit it, but I can't see the other elements within the solution.

I need to be able to access all the elements of the solution. Is there a way to make me the owner of the solution? I read that two people cannot be owners of the same solution. Or is there a way to share the entire solution with me?

    Hi @Pstork1 and @Garima_PowerPlatform !

Thank you for your reply but I can’t see the manage owner section in the solution! Where is it located? Could you provide me with a screenshot?

    Thanks

Can you supply a screenshot of where you see Manage Owners in Solutions?  The owner of a solution is defined by the Publisher.  An administrator can change the Publisher, but I've never seen a prompt for Manage Owners.

    Hi,

Steps to Access All Elements of the Solution:

    1. Request Full Ownership:

      • Since Power Apps only allows one owner per solution, you can request that your colleague transfers full ownership of the solution to you. They can do this by:
        • Going to Solutions in Power Apps.
        • Selecting the solution and clicking Manage Owners.
        • Adding you as an owner, or if necessary, transferring full ownership.
    2. Co-Owner Permissions:

      • As a co-owner, you can view and edit the app, but you won’t be able to see or modify other components like Power Automate flows, connections, or environment variables.
    3. Share Individual Elements:

      • If full ownership isn’t possible, ask your colleague to share individual elements of the solution, such as flows or environment variables, directly with you. This can be done by:
        • Sharing flows: Navigate to Power Automate, find the flow, and use Share to invite you.
        • Sharing connections: Go to Data > Connections and share the specific connections with you.
        • Sharing environment variables: Go to Settings > Environment Variables and grant access to the variables you need.
    4. Alternative Solutions:

      • If complete access is crucial, and full ownership transfer isn’t an option, explore using different environments where you can recreate the solution and manage everything independently.
    5. Collaboration with System Administrator:

      • In cases where complete transfer of ownership isn’t possible, working closely with a system administrator may provide temporary or permanent solutions for access.

The owner of a solution is the Publisher tied to the solution. There are two default Publishers, one for the tenant and one for Dataverse. These both include many people. But if you create a new Publisher it will normally be for a specific person, not two.  But that's OK, because although the Publisher is the owner that doesn't give them permissions to edit things. Instead for Apps and Flows its the Maker of the App or Flow and whoever they share it with that has permission to see it and edit it.  If you can see/edit the app you should also then be able to see/edit connection references and Environment Variables used by the app or flow.

The only other thing that would prevent this is no having the right security role in the environment where the Solution is stored. To be a maker you'll need Basic user and System Customizer roles for the environment.
