Error importing model driven app - please help!

Hi, I am getting the following error when importing a managed solution.  (Model Driven App & Dataverse)

Error code
Exception message
Import failed: The column 'Concat' is dependent on column 'Chapter'. ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN Chapter failed because one or more objects access this column.

Column Concat - is made up of text fields Chapter, subchapter.  - using fx formula Concatenate(Chapter,SubChapter)

It has been working perfectly fine until today when I changed the width of the Chapter field (changed in dev and exported- failed when importing to live).  I have been getting this error since.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me - looking for guidance on how to proceed.

Thank you

Check in your prod environment if there are any unmanaged layers of customization on that column, and see if the dependencies match dev.

I would also see if you can alter the PowerFx formula to remove the reference to Chapter, save, modify the length of the field, modify the formula column to re-add Chapter, save, publish table.

you may have to also do a temporary push to prod that just unlinks Chapter from the formula column, and another push to prod that relinks them with the higher field length.

It does look like a bug to me if it can’t be resolved with the above steps so you may have to contact Microsoft support.

@ivan_apps thank you for your reply - that is exactly what I did after contacting MS Support.

So - if you have this issue -  I changed the formula so that it did not reference any fields  - I used Text("eg").  I then exported with the same version number and imported.

I then changed the field lengths as required, exported and imported again with the same version number.

Finally I re-added the formula -  exported and imported and it is all fine again 🙂
