Hello Everyone,

Apart from checking the entities list, can anyone help me that how can I know that my existing environment is Dataverse OR Dynamics?
Is there any setting or something else which I can check?

Thanks in Advance!

    Hi @Ancy ,

Environment is specific to dynamics 365/office 365, which belongs to a tenant.

A tenant can have multiple environments/instances.

Dataverse/CDS is a database which present inside an environment.

    Regards,

    Prakash

Addition to above points, you can check list of environments in admin.powerplatform.com

To access, you have to be system administrator/powerplatform admin.

    Hello Ancy,

If you want to see existing environment or details, After logging into make.powerapps.com you will able to see settings button, click on that and click on admin center. It will navigate to another page and click on the environments, that you will find left side of the page and you can check existing environments and you can create new environments as well  if you need it.

    Hi @Ancy ,

Another way to quickly detemine this is to go to the admin center and look at your environments and click on the ellipses of the environment and you will see resources and if it has "Dynamics 365 Apps" you know you are in a Dynamics enabled environment vs. one that is not.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,

    Drew

Just leaving a note that as of at least Sept '22, the above method is not a reliable indicator. The admin portal will show "Dynamics 365 Apps" under Resources, regardless of DB type. It will just baulk when you go to configure a D365 app.

More annoyingly, these non-d365 are also reporting themselves as D365Instance types in their environment metadata:

Might just be a transient bug in their BAP backend, might be part of their ongoing efforts to unify the 2 schemas, who knows.

    Hi @MichaelHolmesWP ,

Do you have any update on this issue ? I am also struggling with this bug and it is difficult to differentiate environments.
