Power App SQL connection, moving from on-prem to Azure. How to update connection

Hi there.

I have a Power App (and Flows) that uses an SQL connection to an on-prem SQL database.

This database is going to be migrated to Azure.

I'm wondering how simple is the process of updating the connection to point to Azure.

Is it as simple as going into the connection, clicking Edit, entering in the server and DB details + login details?

Or will I need to go into all apps and Flows that use this connection and change them to a new connection?

Thanks!

    Hi @claz ,

At my knowledge , you need to create a new connection and this connection is explicit. It is not shareable connection.

    Hi @claz

This is a similar step compared to what you do with on-prem where you've to configure the gateway as well in Azure it's no more needed and you can leave it blank.

If you're looking for implicit mode then you can surely use SQL username & password-based authentication.

Also, recommend have to look at Connection references if you are using a solution

    ref: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/data-platform/create-connection-reference

you need to refresh once the connection references from the old to the latest ones so that points to new server
