Do my app users need access to my flows and the flows' connections?

I'm new to PowerApps and struggling to find a clear answer to this...

I've built a Power App that calls one of three variations of a Power Automate flow.  From there, the flow performs the following:

  • Creates an item in a SharePoint list
  • Adds a row to a table in an Excel spreadsheet
  • Sends an email (from a shared mailbox)

My question is, will the users need access to my Power Automate flows, and if so, will they also need access to that flow's connections (i.e. the SP list, the excel file, and potentially the shared email)?

The app itself doesn't have direct connections to the SP list, etc, just to the flows, and I don't want to give users access to those.  The app & flows work as designed when I test them.

Thanks!

If you build the flows using the Power Apps V2 trigger and build everything inside a solution then you can set the Run ony user settings on the flows and it will use the security contxt of the maker of the flow.  This is a relatively new feature. This video explains the steps well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ts-ggDAy7IQ Doing it this way the users will not need access to the lists.

Thanks for the speedy reply @Pstork1 !

I think this should definitely work for me.  I really should've switched to the V2 trigger sooner 😅
