Data from powerBI report - where does it go?

Hi,

I am creating a powerapp through powerbi and I am going to be showing users of the app, data from the report when they search for an employee ID within the app.

My question is, where does this data get stored within powerapps for it to then be used within the app?

I think it's in a dataverse table that get's created some how, but not 100% sure.

Cheers
Carl

You are creating a Power App 'through' Power BI - what do you mean by that?

Assuming you are embedding a Power App in a Power BI report, the Power App uses the data from your Power BI datasource. You must drag and drop fields from your dataset into this section in order for your Power App to utilise it.

Your app will likely be stored in the default Power Apps environment

You’d probably want to clarify what you are doing. If you indeed are embedding a Power App in a power bi report, your power app could have any data source but you’d have to have configured that. Seeing as you are asking where the data source is… you are likely connected to the Power BI semantic model for your app. Your Power BI gathers data from several sources and creates its own database, called a semantic model, and keeps it refreshed and does transformations on it. If you are interacting with the semantic model, it’s not pushing data back to the original source, rather that new database, just FYI

Thanks for the reply @ivan_apps and @tommoody.  Having read through this again Power Apps visual for Power BI - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn and watching some youtube videos, I think I understand it now.

It seems like a link between the semantic model in powerBI online and the app is created via the PowerBIIntegration object.  No data is actually stored in powerapps which is pretty neat.
