How to download PowerBI training file within lab / virtual machine?

PowerBI learning module 11 of "Get Data in PowerBI": https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/get-data/lab-prepare
I have followed the instructions but the data file will not download in the virtual / lab machine, but only on my local drive. When I go to do the exercises, I can only access the drives in the virtual machine, which are empty. I have done the following:

  1. Signed in
  2. Clicked on "Download Lab Files to D:\ drive" and got the "Success" message
  3. Attempted to do the following:
"Get started with Power BI Desktop
To complete this exercise, first open a web browser and enter the following URL to download the zip folder: https://github.com/MicrosoftLearning/PL-300-Microsoft-Power-BI-Data-Analyst/raw/Main/Allfiles/Labs/01-get-data-in-power-bi/01-get-data.zip
Extract the folder to the C:\Users\Student\Downloads\01-get-data folder.

Open the 01-Starter-Sales Analysis.pbix file."
However, it does not download within the virtual / lab machine but only on my local drive, so I can't continue with the lab within the virtual machine. How to save it within the virtual machine or allow the virtual machine to access my local drive?

I have also tried to to paste the URL for the files to the browser in the VM. I have copied the URL but when I right click to paste in the VM browser, the paste option is not available, and Ctrl + V doesn't work either. It also doesn't let me delete or overtype the URL in the VM browser.

Sorry, when you say it doesn't work in your lab, did you open a browser IN the lab. If it downloaded IN your computer, you had to have opened it on your computer not the lab.

Now I will say... many times (and no I do not know why) the lab environments may or may not have internet connectivity in the same way and sometimes the urls wont work.

So did it not work or did you accidentally open it on your computer?

Thanks Michael, initially I could not work out how to open a browser within the lab, so it kept opening on my computer. The instructions don't show how to open the browser in the lab. I have now learned that there is a Window command that can open the browser in the lab, so it works now.
