Curious if anyone knows the reasoning behind this functionality being unavailable in the GCC environments? Being able to embed an app in Teams, and have its own icon on the left sidebar is an extremely nice feature to have available.

Hopefully this is something that becomes available in the future.

I know you can use the Power Apps app inside a team and add a Canvas app “tab” no problem in DoD. You can also use a URL and it should work.

to get it embedded into the left panel, the problem is the “add to teams” button under “Share” is unavailable. This creates an MS Teams app wrapper with a URL link to your app in commercial tenants.
If you have a test tenant and export the app ZIP file, what you can do is manually replace all references to the app URL and App metadata with your desired gov cloud URL and metadata. Then publish that app package to the MS Teams App Store via the Teams Admin center and then it will show up under “Apps built for your org”.

its several more steps but I’ve recently been able to publish an App using this method, and now it’s pinned to h the left-nav panel.
