Power Apps app with facial recognition, fingerprint authentication, and password login?

Hi Power Apps Community,

My manager has asked me to explore building a Power Apps application that includes the following authentication features:

  • Facial recognition
  • Fingerprint authentication
  • Password-based login

I've tried researching if this is possible directly within Power Apps, but haven’t been able to find any official documentation or working examples. From what I understand, Power Apps has limitations around accessing device-level biometric data such as fingerprints or facial scans.

Is there any way to achieve this functionality using Power Apps alone, or by integrating with Power Automate, Azure services, or third-party connectors?

If anyone has attempted something similar or can guide me to the right approach or documentation, I’d really appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance!

Sort of, and its getting there. Next exactly like other situations, where it will essentially do this as a pre-step to launching the app.

However, you can add a form of face recognition, either as they attempt to open it on the first Screen. If the facial recognition fails, you can use the Exit function to shut down your app.

The face API one essentially let's you build something that you could build.

While there is no specific Microsoft side "quote answer", these should help you as you asked to get an idea.

Please Mark as a resolve answer (you can mark as many people as you like), if this helps you, and maybe a like

    Cheers!

Authentication is currently managed through Microsoft Entra which provides a single sign on solution for all of Microsoft services and persons are assigned roles which provides access to data, services, and solutions.

How do you envision the biometric component working? Is this a second authentication layer? Computer (PC or Mac), tablet or mobile?

Microsoft currently provides the Windows Hello solution which is primarily used to grant access the device. Theoretically if the APIs are available you could call them from your power apps solution (not directly). This would not be available on mobile devices.
