Changing the sharepoint list of a Edit Form in Power Apps

Hi,

I have built a power apps which will update a SharePoint List.  And it works fine.  But when I move the SharePoint List to another environment with the same list name and change the data source of the power apps to the new list, it does not work properly.  It simply cannot update the new list without any error.   It does not update the old list or the new list.

I have changed the data source to a new SharePoint List and refreshed the connection of Data Table and those data cards in the Edit Form, but it does not help.  Can anyone advise how can I change the SharePoint List to a new one in Power Apps so that the apps will run normally as before?

Thank You.

    Hi @ConnieChau ,

    Assuming that the new list has exactly the same list name, field names and field types, it should work if you (first) delete the old list and then add the new one. Is this what you did and are the lists exactly the same ?

    HI WarrenBelz

    The new and old list are exactly the same but in different SharePoint.  I have not deleted the old list as I want to keep it for another usage.  I just want to change the power app to use the new lists instead.   When I change to new data source, refresh the connection, and data tables , it seems work but it does not update anything in the new or old list.

    Please help to advise how to do so.

    Thank You

    Hi @ConnieChau ,

    That is why it is not working - all your references will still refer to the old list. Deleting it as a Data Source from Power Apps does not delete the list from SharePoint.

    Hi WarrenBelz,

    What I want is to keep both the old and new lists, but want to change the Power Apps to use the new lists.  No matter how I change the Data Source of the Power Apps, it did not update the new list.  Just want to find a way to change the reference in the Power Apps.

    @ConnieChau ,

    The new list will have _1 after the name so you would have to change every reference to the old list to the new one using the Find and Replace function (bottom icon in the left menu).

    If you are going to do this, it is far easier to simply do what I suggested and delete the old one first, then the new one will simply take all the references.

    You can then add the old one back in for any future use.
