Model driven app question

In my model driven app, I have group sessions which comprise of a group, date and attendee, I also have a rollup field to count how many attendees are at each group - great. The view works well as an overview of each group as I can see the date, group name and number of attendees. What I'm struggling with is, is it possible to drill down on each group session without clicking into it? I'd ideally like to be able to export all data to Excel. At the moment I can export the overview of all groups, or one group at a time. It would be quite time consuming to get an overall spreadsheet as it would involve a lot of copying and pasting (I think). Am I missing something?

Thank your for choosing Power Platform Community.

You're on the right track! It sounds like you have a solid setup for managing your group sessions, but the export limitations are causing a bit of frustration.

One way to make exporting easier is to create a view that includes all the details you need. You could build an Advanced Find query or a custom view that lists each session along with its attendees, group name, and date, ensuring that all relevant data is displayed in one place before exporting.

Another option is to use Power Automate to automate the export process. You could create a flow that pulls all related data from your app and exports it into a structured Excel file, bypassing the need for manual copying and pasting.

@Robu1 Thanks for your quick reply. I'm trying to avoid using Power Automate if I can, but I'm definitely be interested in setting up an Advanced Find query. I'm going to have a read up on that! Thanks so much.

@rubu1 I'm stumped as to how to build the filter... Do I start with the group session or with the contacts and then what do I need to add? Sorry, this is all very new to me!

Have you tried using power apps grid? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/model-driven-apps/the-power-apps-grid-control. You can have it instead of regular view.

Inside power apps grid, you can set 'Child items'. This way you will have a single view and inside you will be able to expand each row to see even more details.

I believe this may be possible to export expanded rows using 'export to excel' option

To set up an Advanced Find query, here’s what you can do @CD-28031715-0:

Open Advanced Find in your Model-Driven App (click the funnel icon in the top right).

Select the Group Sessions entity (or the entity that stores your sessions).

    Build your filters:
If you want all sessions, you can simply show all records.
If you need specific sessions (e.g., only sessions within a date range), add filters accordingly.
Use Related Records to pull Attendee data into the query.
Once the view displays what you need, click Export to Excel.

@CU14080831-0 I've tried every which way to get the child view to display, it goes through the motions but there is no data. Any idea where I'm going wrong please? The screenshot below shows me that there are 8 attendees at the group, I see them if I click the link and view the subgrid, but I'm not seeing anything on the main view in the new grid on the view. Which table should I use for the child grid? I've tried Group Attendees and Contact but no luck with either.
