Powerapps Sybase Connection

Hi,

I need to create a PowerApps Canvas App that reads and writes data to a Sybase SQL On Prem. Currently, there is no built in connector for Sybase available for PowerApps (available for Power BI though). I would like to ask for help on what are my other options within PowerApps to make this connection work?

Thanks!

The quickest idea that comes to my mind is, since there is a connector for Power BI only, you can use instead any supported database of your choice for the Power App, and then use self-service data prep setup of a Power BI Dataflow to synchronize the data from the supported database to Sybase. If needed, to set up on-prem gateway as well for Power BI.

    Other possible options:

I don't believe this will work for Sybase, but you can attempt to use one of the other existing SQL-like connectors e.g. MySql, PostGreSQL, etc. and see if it just works anyway. This is a trick that might work for some SQL flavors. I don't think this will work for Sybase. Since you are on-prem, you might need to also set up on-prem gateway as well to try this. I mention it here anyway in case - for example, if you wanted to go ahead and write a connector yourself (which is possibly another option), a starting point would be to check how similar it is to other SQL-flavored databases before writing it.

@gelog : Thanks for making this post. I am literally dealing with the same situation. Two consultants later....no resolution. :+(

The last person I spoke with told me to hire someone to open the database file through  Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and to export using ETL/ELT-type software the info to a Azure database.

    I'm a surgeon...not a data engineer. HELPPP! 🤕
