Hey all,

Working on deploying an Extended Copilot, am looking for more resources to better inform me on the path forward.

Specifically, we have created the necessary Azure application registrations and AD groups. We are looking to deploy this model to a subset of our total user base (the AD group already mentioned), while leaving the original OOTB, non-extended Copilot in the hands of the rest of our users.

I have a few questions with regards to the latter.

After configuration of AD groups paired with registering our Copilot application in Azure, will the publishment of our Extended Copilot in Copilot Studio take care of deploying our Extended Copilot to our AD group? I would prefer if the extended copilot we deploy is not visible to anyone outside of the AD group.

If the latter is true, will this Extended Copilot be deployed to all Copilot interfaces on a Windows 11 device? We predominantly want it be deployed to MS Teams, appearing as a chat in teams like any other. I'm interested in learning more about restricting where in the MS ecosystem our Extended Copilot is deployed (is that what channels are for in copilot studio?).

Typically our customers will restrict copilot access based on security group access.

Hey Peter,

I have seen that doc, and the portion regarding deployment to a particular security group is in fact what we are intending on doing. I suppose I am then looking for further clarification with regards to that documentation.

For example, it implies you can share an Extended Copilot with a particular security group (which is great, and what we want), but it doesn't speak to where and how this newly deployed product will be encountered by our users. Does it just replace the pinned OOTB Copilot in Teams? Does it also do this in the work tab of Windows' Copilot? Will all users be able to view this Extended Copilot, but only the AD group can access/use it? These are the types of questions I'm trying to gain some insight into.

I appreciate you dropping that doc!

Hi

Just to clarify, when you say, will it auto deploy to AD, do you mean, will it register the App you need? No, it wont do that. You would have to use a pipeline to add a step to do that, or do it manually. This includes groups and adding it to groups etc. That's all either pipeline stuff, or manual after the deployment.

When I say phrases along the lines "deploying to my(the) AD Group". I am referring to deploying to the individuals I have in a Azure AD Group that have been added to my Copilot application in Azure. Please refer to my post/replies to further understand the context of the question I'm asking.

Adding users to the group is one step, they will then need to manually do the work of adding the app from the org app in teams to complete the onboarding process.
