Limit the Choices available in form's dropdown

I have a choice column in my Sharepoint list that has many choices but I would like to limit the available choices in a drop down on a certain screen to just

"Internally Communicate and Post"

"Internal Post"

"Externally Post"

change its items property to

["Internally Communicate and Post", "Internal Post", "Externally Post"]

For some reason I thought this would affect the SubmitForm function and preventing it from writing back to the list but now that i'm thinking about it - it should work fine. Thank you!
