Building from a template, the error "loading the template document failed"

Hello MVP

The error "loading the template document failed" appeared when I attempted to create Survey Apps using a template

Could you please assist?

This happens to me too, almost every time, when I say almost, I mean I've managed to get it to work once.

I've tried three different computers, two of them macs one of them a PC all using edge, using two different accounts on two different networks, the only time I did get it to work was on an environment that was enabled for Dataverse on an app that I'd created and then left for over 12 hours. This wasn't intentional, I got interrupted, went to work the next day and noticed that it was still sitting with the "make your own version of this app" button ready to go. I hit that because I figured, why not? And much to my surprise it worked!!

My initial thought that it was network related, however multiple subsequent tests on two different environments (one with Dataverse enabled, the other not) also failed. At this point I suspect it is timing related but waiting 12 hours between iterations doesn't seem like a good testing regime to me, which is why i went looking to see if anyone else was seeing the same behaviour. Unfortunately, apart from this one question, every other recommendation is to make sure I'm using the latest version of PowerApps studio which I don't think even exists outside the browser-based version.

If you get yours to work reliably, please post it here as this kind of thing has already wasted hours of precious time

You have to look at the requirements of the template and set your environment in preparation for the installation.
