Search is not working for certain fields in entity views

Hello everyone,

I have created a custom view in account entity. I made all the fields used in this view as searchable, but when i open that particular account view in model driven app all the fields are not searchable. Two custom fields are not searchable and the standard field "address 1 street 2 is also not searchable.

And i am talking about the" search this view " bar that we can see in all the views.

Thank you...

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Anonymous,

The address fields look like they are on the Account entity but they are actually on the "Address" entity that is connected to the Account.  Microsoft hides this behind the scenes for Address1 and Address2 that show as fields on the Account.

You need to connect to the related Address entity to do that filtering, see example below...  I am showing filter on the Address1 fields that would show on the Account.

Hope this helps.  Please Accept if answered your question or Like if helped in some way.

    Thanks,

    Drew

Thank you for the reply @dpoggemann

I am able to filter these fields individually. I am not able to search the records based on the data stored in these field.

I also added a custom field in account entity, but that field is also not searchable.

I found the solution, i have to add the fields in quick find view.

But in some of the blogs, its mentioned that all the fields added to the view are searchable.

We have to add fields to quick find view only if we are using "quick find search" and not for "search this view".

Its confusing, I don't know what to do?

    Hi @Anonymous,

Now I understand.  If you configure the quick find view the "Search this view" will search fields visible in that view along with the fields in the Quick Find View.  It still won't search related entity fields successfully that I have found.  I can make this work through the "Filter" only and not through the search.

Here is an idea that is already posted on this topic that you might want to vote for:  https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Apps-Ideas/Can-t-find-related-entity-that-was-added-in-a-column-in-a-View/idi-p/222725
