Roles on model driven apps are lost after updating solution

Hi,

We have seen (on multiple environments) that Roles associated with model driven apps are reset whenever we update the managed solution in which these model driven apps are created.

Why is this happening and how can we maintain the configured roles after updating the solution?

    I had a feeling that we were doing something wrong; I checked some more stuff, and it seems that because the model driven app is not shared with the right role in the unmanaged solution in our development environment, that the associated roles on the production environment were overwritten when the managed solution was updated...
