Gallery formatting (missing separator lines which separates the records)

Hi,

In the gallery, each record is shown with three fields. Different records are separated by lines called separator. I have a PowerApp app which would miss this line (separator) for every three records (for example, the line between 3rd and fouth record would be missing). This behavior only occurs when I run the app straight, If I run the app in the web editting mode, the separator line would not have been missing.

This looks like a bug to me because I have an app which would run fine in one condition and abnormal in another condition.

Thanks.

    Hi,

Could you provide some more details about this?

Where are your records coming from? Do you have a function that splits your data into records?

    Thanks

    Cherie

    Hi,

My data comes from a single SQL server table using on-premise data gateway. I have no function to split the record in the gallery.

I have a radio button specifying a total of six field search options, each option uses  a gallery. All six galleries come from the same data table with different choice of what fields to display in the galleries, and what field to search in the search box. At any given time, only the gallery that is selected by the radio button is visible. In this design, I have a single screen with six galleries to satisfy users requirement of multiple search options. In PowerApps default design, a single screen with one gallery can only provide one search option by searching a designated field.

I don't see how my app design would impact the display of the separator which is a compoent of a gallery, and I have taken a gallery as a whole without any modification, and this works perfect in PowerApps web editting mode without any issues.

    Thanks

This may be a scaling bug in which the separator is not shown properly in smaller screens; where are you seeing this issue (web player, iOS/Android device, something else)? If you see it in a browser / Windows Studio, would you know the resolution of your screen? If on a device, which model/version is it? Can you provide a screenshot of your gallery (with any personal/private information redacted) of that?

If this is indeed the case, you may be able to workaround this issue by making the separator a little bigger. If you select the separator (a Rectangle control), you can increase the Height to 2 (or 3), and change the Y property to move it up accordingly (if you didn't change it, it should be "Parent.TemplateHeight - 1", so you'd change it to "Parent.TemplateHeight - 2" or "Parent.TemplateHeight - 3"

    Hi,

I am running the app on a Windows 10 machine. I am happy to provide the screenshot, can you tell me how to include a screenshot on this thread?

    Thanks.

You can use the "Snipping Tool" that is available on Windows 10.

When you have the screen that you want captured, hit the Windows key (or CTRL+ESC), they start typing "Snipping"; when the snipping tool shows up, click it to open, then click "New", and it will allow you to select part of the window to capture. Once you capture the window, click the "disk" icon to save the capture somewhere in your computer.

Now you can reply to this thread, and click the "photos" icon, where you can select the file that you saved with the capture.

    Hi,

Thanks for the instruction. See screenshots of the app running in straight (first 2 photos)  and web editting (3rd photo) mode. Do you think that making the line thicker would resolve the issue?

    Thanks

I believe it will solve it, this looks like an issue that I've had in the past, and making it thicker solved it. Hopefully it will work for you as well!

    Hi,

Increase the line thickness does not resolve the issue, I changed the thickness value from 0 to 2,4,6, 10, and nothing happens. The thickness value from 4-10 is visually unpleasent on the app.

If this issue happened before, can your team trace the problem? Missing separator lines has a very negative visual effect on the PowerApps itself that I really need it to be resolved.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Now I have the proof that this problem is not in my PowerApps app program, it is not a programming error on my end, rather it is at the backhand end of the PowerApps engine in the cloud.

    Here is what I did:

    1. Started a new blank PowerApps program with tablet layout.

    2. After the blank screen shows up, insert a Gallery

    3. Connect the data by selecting my SQL server table (the on-premise gateway was setup already).

    4. Select the data display format  in Title, SubTitle, Body

    5. Save the program.

    6. Reopen the program in application mode by double clicking the program name (rather than openning it for editing in web).

The new program would have some separator lines missing, although in web editing mode, every separator line deos exist for this program.

This should serve as a method to duplicate this problem on your end. Hopefully this is something not hard to fix.

    Thanks.
