Wrong File Count When Grouping 500 Files Into A Single Knowledge Source

We are facing the issue that Copilot does not allow us to upload 292 files (.pdf, .docx) to group them into a single knowledge source.
Copilot believes its 562 files and asks to delete 62 of them - which is obviously wrong.

I tried to create a new agent, went to "Knowledge" and added 417 files to group them into a single knowledge source. Copilot belives its over 700 files. Still wrong.

Why is Copilot not counting right? Do you experience the same issue?

Thank you!

    Hi there?

There a lot of threads about this. I think the term "files" is misleading and is the root cause.  A file may be chunked or into more then one, that's why you see weird numbers.

That said, the quantity doesn't apply if you use SharePoint.

In the article you shared, Microsofts claims to accept 500 files. There is no information about how the files are counted. This is clearly misleading. We are unable to create valuable Agents for our emploees, simply due to the fact that although we are way below the count of 500 files, Copilot thinks its over 700.

I hope Microsoft can shed some light onto this issue. We would highly appreciate it!

    Thank you!
