Embedding SharePoint Organization Chart in PowerApps Canvas App

(1) ShareShare

Posted on by

I am building a Canvas app using a SharePoint list that displays a list of all departments in the organization. When a user selects a department, I want to show the organization chart for that department.

To achieve this, I have created a SharePoint page with the Organization Chart web part. However, I need help with:

  1. Embedding the SharePoint page (containing the org chart) into the PowerApps Canvas app.

  2. Dynamically passing an email ID (based on the selected department) to filter the organization chart for the relevant team.

  3.

Is there a way to achieve this within PowerApps? Any guidance or alternative approaches would be appreciated!

    Hi!

    1. A SharePoint page can be embedded in a Power Apps canvas app using an iFrame component: https://pcf.gallery/responsive-iframe-pcf-control/
    2. I'm thinking you'll have to configure a parameter on the SharePoint page to pass the email id. Then take the value of that parameter to select the right team in the webpart. How to do that is probably best asked in the Sharepoint Community: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/category/content_management/discussions/sharepoint_general

Once 2. is implemented, you can make the URL you pass in the source property of the iFrame component dynamic to include the parameter and its' value so it shows the relevant team.
