Approval before applying changes

Hi all.

Is there a simple way to add an approval process to edits on records? I want all users to be able to view entities, but if they edit an entry the change should be reviewed before it reflects for others.

For example, if a user wants to update an address. They capture an update, and an approval request is sent through to a manager. If that is approved, then the change will be applied.

Is there a straightforward way to achieve this?

You can use Microsoft Power automate to achieve this scenario.

you an build a flow that detects the changes and sent out an approval email when ever there is an update in the entity.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/modern-approvals

Refer to above link incase if you need information on steps needed to create approval flow and how to process the approval.

@Krishna92thanks. That covers the handling of approval queries. The other part of my challenge is how these can prevent the item from being updated until there is an approval.

I currently have a model-driven application. I would like to have an approval process on edits of all of the entities there. Other users should not see any changes until the change is approved.

All of the examples that I have seen in the documentation have a record with a field that represents whether or not the entry has been approved or not. What I am looking for is a way for changes to a record to be blocked until an approval is made. Essentially, a layer between the entry of data in a form and it being reflected in the database. Is there a simple way to achieve that?

Hi Mark, sorry to bring up again an old thread, but did you find a solution to block updating a record until approved?

I am seeking the same functionality. My thoughts were to create a "duplicate" table for all the pending changes, and once approved, would then apply to the original tables, but that does not seem ideal..

    Kind Regards

    Eric
